Rob Leifer

Rob Leifer was born and raised on a long island outside of Manhattan, commonly referred to as Long Island. He started playing guitar at the age of 13 and quickly became a force to be reckoned with in the NY music scene. Rob received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston during his senior year of high school. At Berklee, he honed his craft and became a versatile musician, playing in several bands and ensembles around the Boston area. His main band, The Neon Calm, wrote and recorded two albums and moved to Los Angeles in 2004 to pursue their dreams. After being teased with several major label demo deals and a few US tours, The Neon Calm called it quits in 2007.

After the band disbanded, Rob focused on playing sessions and building a name for himself within the LA music scene. He started to receive recognition among the industry elite as "the go to guy" for bringing "the rock." While Rob is well-versed in all styles of music, his ability to shred and burn faces is what his reputation has been built upon. At that point, Rickey Minor took Rob under his wings. As the music director for some of the worlds most famous music shows, including American Idol, the Grammy Awards, and Don't Forget the Lyrics, Rickey hired Rob to bring the rock on several of the leading industry gigs. Highlights include: American Idol, America's Got Talent, VH1's Big in 06, and a multitude of recording sessions and concerts.

As to not become a "one trick pony," Rob also started to showcase his business skills outside of his playing career. He would supplement his income with production based gigs around LA, and within a couple of years he had racked up a very impressive list of TV production credits. As a knowledgeable and well-versed musician, Rob was able to offer production companies unique consultation in the genre of music related programming. His skills have gained him a reputation as one of the premier music production managers in the industry.

If there is one thing that Rob has been missing in his life, it's a great band to rock out with. Enter the Thomas Nicholas Band. Rob was recommended to play on the bands record in January of 2010. It was clear that this was not just a typical recording session for Rob. The guys all hit it off, and within a few months he suddenly found himself taking photos with the band, going to weekly rehearsals, and playing shows! Rob contributed to the Thomas Nicholas Band's new record with a combination of explosively creative guitar playing, boyish good looks, and an ego that rivals that of David Lee Roth's. And that brings you up to speed on the life and times of Rob Leifer.
